St.Patrick’s day

March 18th, 2010 by

yesterday I went to school not knowing it was St.Patrick’s day.  Luckily I had an after school activities that envolved a t-shirt.  And my t-shirt had a little bit of green on it.  The coolest thing was when a girl’s mom that was in my class got Irish music, vanilla pudding with green food die, a chocolate coin, and and 2 cookies.  Yesterday was one of my best St.Patrick’s day.

I-Fest and Happy Earth Day!

April 22nd, 2009 by

I can answer your question now Bryan, and happy Earth Day!!!!.  I am so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so sorry that I haven’t been writing posts. My spring break was crazy!!!  But I have another story for you…

 I-Fest

On Saturday at noon time I went to the UNCG International  Fest… it’s called I-Fest for short.  I went with my grandmother.

Did you know  my  grandmother’s mom had a dorm in the oldest building on UNCG campus?  My grandmother  also went to UNCG. One last thing… my dad made some metal rails for them.  But back to the story. The I-Fest is when people from UNCG and ATandT that are from foreign lands share foods, games, and awesome facts like the bridge that is linked to Denmarkand Norway that’s 10-11miles long… and lots more - I just can’t remember.

Josephus III

April 7th, 2009 by

Hello blog readers.  Thursday I went to Poetry Night at the Greensboro Central Library.  The host’s name was Josephus III.  He is a poet who worked with the 4th and 5th graders at Peeler.  Josephus is a powerful, creative, gifted soul.  He connects with kids and they respond to him with understanding.  The 4th and 5th created several strong poems with Josephus’ help, and they performed them at Poetry Night. My class was working on poetry at the same time… not with Josephus, so we also shared our poems with Peeler friends and family.

     He began the night by saying a poem and making all of us say it with him.  The audience sprouted to life like the beansprout in Jack and the Beanstalk.  We were definitely awake when we shouted this poem that I loved.  It goes like this:  P – O – E – T – R – Y!    P – O – P – O – E – T – R – Y!        P – O – E – T – R – Y!     BECAUSE POETRY IS LIFE AND LIFE IS POETRY!

Later, all of us read our poems aloud.  So here are some of my poems.

                   The birds are soaring

                   It’s a make believe morning

I see a lonely man in a can

watching the birds soaring in the air at the fair

I see the deer clattering their feet in the street

“The” Story

March 28th, 2009 by

This is a little story I put together during our ‘Reflections Writing’ this morning in school.

See full size image

Brixx

Yesterday I went to Brixx Pizza.  Of course I got a small, thin, kid’s pizza.  My mom said Dylan and I could have a large pizza if we shared it.  But Dylan didn’t want to share.  So I got a small, thin, kid’s cheese pizza and Dylan got a big, fat, adult-size pepperoni pizza.  When I got my pizza that thing was gone as quick as a snap!  Here’s how it tasted… greasy, cheesy, saucy, steaming, salty, mouth-watering.   In the end, Dylan did give me one slice of his pizza.  Don’t even get me started on how that tasted!

Inventors’ Challenge

March 10th, 2009 by

Hey guys! I have a challenge for you.  The challenge is… whoever writes the most comments about an inventor this week will get their name or nickname on this blog!!!  I’ll give you an example:

My favorite inventor is Albert Einstein. He was born in 1879 in Ulm, Germany.   He was a genius, especially in math and physics. I was really surprised that he had dyslexia and he was a genius!!  Albert was the guardian for several years for Shinichi Suzuki, who was a famous children’s violin teacher, and developed the “Suzuki” way of teaching music.  My favorite invention of his is the fridge.

Please write back,

The Griffin
